Abstract

PURPOSE:To precisely correct a lateral shift of a sheet by providing a control means for laterally moving a sheet with the use of a sheet moving means after the roller pressure of a pair of conveying rollers is released by a roller pressure releasing means. CONSTITUTION:A copying sheet is conveyed along an incoming sheet conveying path, and when it is clamped between a pair of rollers 22d, 22e after a predetermined time elapses from the time of detection of a paper detecting sensor, a solenoid 120 is turned on so that inlet and outlet guide plates 109, 112 are raised by a pair of rotary links 122, 123 so as to release the press-contact of a pair of roller 22d, 22e. Thereafter, a fence drive motor is started to move a jogger fence so as to correct a lateral sift of a copying sheet. Thereafter the solenoid 120 is again turned-off so that the copying sheet is clamped and is started to be conveyed toward a register roller. During correction of a sheet, the clamping pressure by the pair of rollers 22d, 22e is released, thereby it is possible to carry out precise correction of a sheet.
