Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain high resolving power, by providing a magnetic track on which a series magnetic pattern CP preventing the generation of the combination code of the same bit and an alternating magnetic pattern KP having one bit length of said pattern as a cycle are respectively recorded. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic pattern CP 9a recorded on a magnetic scale 1 is detected by the first detection head 4a and digitalized to become a discontinuous non-repeating code signal HC to be supplied to a decoder 7. The analogue signals having 90 deg. phase difference obtained from two sets of the second detection heads 4d (4b, 4c) arranged on the second magnetic track 2b having KP 9b recorded thereon are supplied to an interpolation device 8 and a digital section absolute value signal having a value of 0-V (binary number) is generated on one cycle synchronous to one cycle of said analogue signals to be supplied to the decoder 7. By this constitution, the decoder 7 performs the rearrangement and permulation of an HC signal to obtain a signal wherein one step becomes V and a section absolute position signal is added to said signal and a digital absolute position signal having high resolving capacity is obtained in the whole of the magnetic scale.
