Abstract

PURPOSE:To execute synchronous detection in a short time with simple circuit constitution, by utilizing a phase error signal which has been detected in a demodulating circuit. CONSTITUTION:Frequency sweep is executed, when a frequency fluctuation range of an input modulating signal has exceeded a synchronizable range of a demodulating circuit 101, and in this case, a phase error signal becomes a beat signal corresponding to a shift frequency of the synchronizable range and the frequency fluctuation range. When this shift frequency converges gradually to zero and enters a band of a low-pass filter 107, the beat signal corresponding to its frequency is inputted to the low-pass filter, converted to a DC level signal in an averaging circuit 109 through one circuit of an absolute value circuit 108 or a square circuit, and compared with a threshold level in the next comparing circuit 110. In the demodulating circuit 101, whether the frequency sweep operation can be continued or not can be decided by a comparison result signal of the comparing circuit 110. In such a way, since the phase error signal which has been detected in the demodulating circuit 101 is utilized, the synchronous detection can be executed in a short time.
