Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow a character graphics to appear by the minimum number of emitters by vertically aligning emitters, and while lightening character graphics patterns formed by a matrix successively from the 1st column, moving the string of emitters in the horizontal direction and observing a character graphics by using an afterimage. CONSTITUTION: An optional character graphics pattern is stored in a pattern memory 1 by a dot matrix method. On the other hand, pulses are supplied from a timing generation circuit 2 to an address counter 3 at fixed timing (t) and the counter 3 successively scans the memory 1 and supplies the positions of ON storage addresses to a driver circuit 4. Light emitting diodes D1 to Dn equal to the number of elements in a column B, i.e., a row A, of the matrix stored in the memory 1 are connected to the circuit 4 and the diodes corresponding to ON addresses are turned on. Consequently a character graphics can be plotted by the minimum number of emitters.
