Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart a wash-and-wear property to cellulosic fibers without lowering of the strength by partly impregnating a specific urethane polymer in a single yarn, heat-treating and crosslinking it. CONSTITUTION: A single yearn is impregnated with an urethane prepolymer containing 45-80% of oxyethylene group having <=2,500 molecular weight, squeezed and pre-dried, then heat-treated, thus crosslinked to obtain the objective fibers having a wash-and-wear property wearable in no iron after washing without lowering of the strength. The modifying method is especially suitable for regenerated cellulosic fibers.
