Abstract
PURPOSE: To dispense with the installation of additional yarn holding and cutting apparatus for the alternate knitting of different kinds of yarns by providing a selector engaging with a cutter bar and a hook bar and further providing an actuator and a cam group on a carriage. CONSTITUTION: A hook bar 57 having a hook 58 at the tip end and a cutter bar 77 having a cutter blade 83 at the tip end are inserted into a groove 56 of a needle bed 52. A yarn cutting part is constructed of a fixed blade 83 pressed against the hook bar 57 and the cutter blade 83. A yarn holding part is constructed of the hook bar 57 and the wall of the groove 56. A selector 62 engaging with the cutter bar 77 and the hook bar 57 is provided and the carriage is provided with an actuator to select the selectors and a cam group to lift or lower the hook bar 57 and the cutter bar 77. The hook bar 57 and the cutter bar 77 are lifted or lowered through the selector 62 selected by the action of the actuator.
