Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an image drawing a brain surface structure for diagnosing the lesion part present on the surface of a brain, by arranging a surface coil performing at least one of the excitation and detection of a proton in the vicinity of the head of an examinee and executing a sequence for detecting the magnetic resonance signal from the water in an approaching region and suppressing the magnetic resonance signal from fat. CONSTITUTION:A surface coil 3 is arranged in close vicinity to the head PH of an examinee P so that the hole part thereof faces to the top part of said head PH. In this state, a sequence is executed. That is, a slice region determining inclined magnetic field (Z-axis in this case) is applied along with a 90 deg.-pulse. By this method, the almost half of the head PH is determined as an exciting slice region and, by an echo pulse repeating time Tr set to a time longer than usual time, for example, to 2,000msec, water is sufficiently restored during the time Tr and, therefore, obtained signal intensity is large. Since the surface coil 3 having a high sensitivity characteristic in the direction just under an arrangement part is used, the signal of a deep part such as a cerebral ventricle or basal ganglia is suppressed and is drawn on a display without being overlapped with others.
