Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve control precision in an output controller by a method wherein optical output from a laser diode is detected and compared with a previously set reference signal, and the current corresponding to the result of the comparison and a bias current are superposed and flow through the laser diode. CONSTITUTION:An optical output from a laser diode 8 is compared with a previously set reference signal Vrf, and currents flowing through the laser diode 8 are changed in response to the result of the comparison, thus controlling the optical from the laser diode. In the output control system of such a laser diode, the current Ia corresponding to a said result of comparison and a constant bias current Ib are superposed and flow through the laser diode 8. A resistor R1 is connected between a + power supply and an anode for the laser diode 8, and fixed bias currents Ib are flowed through the laser diode 8 at all times through the resistor R1. The output current Ia corresponding to the result of comparison of a comparator 11 from an LD drive section 16 and a bias current Ib are superposed and flow through the laser diode 8.
