Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the gain deterioration of a helix type traveling-wave tube by coating a metal layer with the evaporation temperature of 1700 deg.K or more on the surface of a helix. CONSTITUTION:An SUS304 tube is used for a metal cylinder envelope 31, a beryllia rod is used for a dielectric support bar 2, an Mo tape is used for a helix substrate metal 31, and a platinum-plated layer of 1 applied on the surface of a Re-plated layer of 0.5mum is used for a helix-coated metal layer 32 respectively. A helix slow-wave circuit thus made is connected to an electron gun section, a collector section, and an input and output section to form a helix type traveling-wave tube, and its gain is not deteriorated in use for a long time. Since the surface of the helix substrate metal is coated with the metal layer with the evaporation temperature exceeding 1700 deg.K, the gain deterioration of the helix type traveling-wave tube can be prevented.
