CONSTITUTION:The plural Ftheta lenses 40a, 40b which have a larger condensing power in the subscanning direction vertical to the main scanning direction than condensing power of the main scanning direction are set in an ftheta lens system. The condensing power in the subscanning direction of the ftheta lens 40a on the side of the scanning mirror 34 of the ftheta lens system consisting of the plural lenses 40a, 40b is larger than the condensing power in the main scanning direction; therefore, the height of the laser beam passing ftheta lens 40b on the side of the image carrier 38 is reduced and the angle of incidence of the laser beam from the ftheta lens system to the image carrier 38 is reduced.
