Abstract

Then the refractive index of the liquid crystal 3 is controlled to vary the diffraction pitch of the diffraction grating to passing luminous flux substantially. Consequently, when a diffracted image is put out of focus by making the diffraction pitch of the diffraction gratings as rough as possible, the desired low-pass effect is obtained even on a small-aperture side and a decrease in the picture quantity of the diffracted image is suppressed.
