Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition, capable of stably generating a suitable amount of chlorine dioxide for a long period from the time of use without generating the chlorine dioxide in storing and distributing, by bringing crystalline high-silica zeolite having a specific value or above of molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3 into contact with chlorites. CONSTITUTION:A composition obtained by bringing crystalline high-silica zeolite having about >=25 molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3 (e.g. pentasil type zeolite, mordenite type high-silica zeolite, etc., which are available at a relatively low cost and advantageous) into contact with chlorites (especially preferably sodium chlorite). The composition can be used in the form, such as powder, granule, pellet or tablet, and contained in an air-permeable bag or case, etc., for use. In storing and distributing processes, packaging materials having high properties of cutting off the outside air are used to hermetically seal the air-permeable bag or case, etc., containing the composition.
