Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (Z is benzyloxycarbonyl; X is residue after removal of one H atom. from imino group of L-imino acid shown by formula II-VI). EXAMPLE:N-Benzyloxycarbonyl-prolyl-hydroxyproline shown by formula VII. USE:A drug for alleviating amnesia, having inhibitory action on prolyl endopeptidase. PREPARATION:For example, N-benzyloxycarbonyl-proline is dissolved in acetonitrile and dicyclohexylcarbodiimide is added to the solution while cooling the solution. A mixture of hydroxymethyl ester hydrochloride and triethylamine is added to the mixture, stirred, filtered and an oily substance is obtained from the collected organic layer. The oily substance is dissolved in THF, incorporated with sodium hydroxide, THF is distilled away, the water layer is washed with an ether, incorporated with hydrochloric acid, then with ethyl acetate and crystallized.
