Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain smooth turning by synchronizing a steering detector for detecting the steering angle of front wheels with a transmission having the number of speeds of more than two stages so that a front wheel speed may be increased in proportion to an increasing steering angle of the front wheels. CONSTITUTION:On handling a wheel, a steering unit 10 causes a steering arm 12 to move rotationally via a steering shaft 11 so as to allow right and left front wheels 4 to move rotationally. In this case, the rotational movement of the steering arm 12 to an angle alpha1 will cause a detecting arm 19 constituting a steering detector to oscillate to a position b, and accordingly the spool of a control valve will be pulled via a push/pull wire 48. As a result, a transmission 26 having the number of speeds of more than two stages, provided in a front wheel drive system 30, is changed over. Then, with a progressively increasing steering angle or the angle of the steering arm 12 from alpha1 to alpha3, the transmission 26 is changed over so that the speed of the front wheels 4 may increase.
