Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an acryic-melamine top-coating paint composition giving a coating film having excellent mar resistance, by compounding a specific low- molecular weight polyol, an acrylic copolymer and an alkoxy monomeric melamine. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains (A) 15-60wt.% of a low- molecular weight polyol component having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 400-2,000, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of <=1.6 (Mn is number-average molecular weight) and a hydroxyl value of 150-400mg/KOH/ g, (B) 15-60wt.% of an acrylic copolymer containing 3-50wt.% of structural unit of formula (R1-R4 are H or CH3; R5 is H, CH3, etc.; k is 0-2; l and m are 0-3; l+n is <=3; n is 1-5) and having an Mw of 5,000-50,000 and a hydroxyl value of 50-180mg/KOH/g and (C) 20-50wt.% of an alkoxy monomeric melamine.
