Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically hold the electrolyte level in a storage battery in a specified level and to reduce the electrolyte leakage after electrolyte pouring is automatically stopped by moving up and down a shut-off weight according to the movement of a float floating on the electrolyte in a battery. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte pouring device 1 is fitted to the mounting part 6 of a storage battery via an O-ring 5 and electrolyte is supplied from a supply hole 4 to the device 1. The electrolyte supplied to the device 1 is poured from a pouring hole 3 to the battery. The pouring hole 3 is opened or closed by the up or down move of a shut-off weight 12. The shut-off weight 12 moves up and down via a lever 13 according to the movement of a float 15 floating on the electrolyte 14 which results from up and down movement of the electrolyte level. When the electrolyte level exceeds a set height, the projection 17 of the shut-off weight 12 is separated from the lever 13, and the shut-off weight 12 blocks the pouring hole 3 by its dead load. When the electrolyte level does not reach a set height, the shut-off weight 12 moves upward to open the pouring hole 3.
