Abstract
PURPOSE: To restrict frost growth by controlling an opening of an superheating control valve based upon detected superheating of an evaporator with the aid of first opening control means, and then controlling the opening to that upon completion of the control with the aid of second opening control means. CONSTITUTION: Superheating of an evaporated refrigerant in an evaporator 8 is detected with superheating detection means 45, and an opening of an superheating control valve 13 is controlled such that detected superheating approaches reference superheating. After the superheating control, the opening of the superheating control valve 13 is fixedly controlled with a second control valve 43 to that upon the superheating control being completed. An amount of frost on the evaporator 8 is detected with frost amount detection means 30, and when the amount of frost is above an initial reference frost amount, the opening control is performed with the second opening control means 43. With such construction, even when frost is deposited on the evaporator, there are eliminated reduction of a refrigerant circulation amount and transfer of evaporation conditions to a low pressure side. Thus, a frost deposition speed is restricted.
