Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the output power of an engine during acceleration by setting a spark advance compensating value and a spark retardation compensating value in accordance with the degree of vehicle speed during acceleration, the temperature of a cooling water and the like, and by selecting these compensating values in accordance with the operating condition of the engine so as to compensate a basic ignition timing. CONSTITUTION:In a control unit 10 for controlling the energization of an ignition coil 17, there is provided a searching means 12 for locating a basic ignition timing in accordance with a basic fuel injection time, as a load, having been obtained by a basic fuel injection time calculating means 11 in accordance with an operating condition of an engine and an engine rotational speed. Further, there is provided an ignition timing compensating value setting means 13 for advancing the ignition timing by a spark advance compensating value in accordance with the cooling water temperature value if the vehicle speed exceeds a first predetermined value during acceleration, but for retarding the ignition timing by a predetermined value if the vehicle speed is below a second predetermined value (which is greater than the first predetermined value). A determining means 15 compensates the basic ignition timing by use of an ignition timing compensating value which has been selected in accordance with the operating condition of the engine by the setting means 13, thereby it is possible to obtain an output ignition timing.
