Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film with significantly high dimensional stability, useful as a base film for flexible printed boards, from pyromellitic dianhydride and 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyimide film with the extention rate at an air atmosphere at 100 deg.C under a tension of 0.4kg/mm<2> being <=0.27%. This film can be obtained by making pyromellitic dianhydride and 4,4'- diaminodiphenyl ether into a solution by dissolving them in a solvent system containing <=50wt.% of a non-solvent in the whole solvent, followed by reaction, ring closure and drying. Toluene is to be used as said non-solvent.
