Abstract
PURPOSE:To weld metal Cr without generating blowholes in a weld zone by executing welding in an inert atmosphere contg. prescribed volumetric % of O2. CONSTITUTION:The metal Cr is welded in the atmosphere gas or shielding gas consisting contg. 0.1-10.0vol.% O2 and consisting of the inert gas such as He or Ar which does not affect the weld zone. Since the blowholes are thereby decreased in the weld zone of the metal Cr, the mechanical properties thereof which compare favorably with the mechanical properties of base metals are obtd. The working by the welding which is heretofore not practised is, therefore, enabled at the time of working the metal Cr. The metal Cr structural material having intricate shapes is thus obtd. The generation of the blowholes during welding is satisfactorily suppressed if the content of hydrogen in the metal Cr to be welded is <=100ppm.
