Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize a mechanical external force applied to a superconducting material and to reduce an eddy current loss by forming a disk winding of a ribbonlike conductor in which an oxide superconducting material is surrounded by a metallic sheath. CONSTITUTION:An oxide superconducting material 1 is filled in a metallic sheath 2 made, for example, of stainless steel to form a flat ribbonlike conductor 3, and which is formed with an insulating coating 4. This is wound radially on an insulating cylinder 5 on which a rail 6 is placed to obtain a platelike coil 7. Crossover tracks 8 of cold coils 7 are alternately formed on the inner and outer peripheries of the coil 7, and a plurality of stacks of continuous disk winding 10 are axially formed through insulating spacers 9. Then, even if the winding 10 is axially rigidly clamped, the coils 7 are integrally received by a force, and the conductors 3 are effectively secured. Thus, an area crossing an axial magnetic field is reduced to decrease its eddy current loss.
