Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent damage of an impeller by forming a flame coating film on the inner surface of a compressor housing of a turbocharger in such a manner that the porosity is gradually increased from the interface with the housing towards the film surface. CONSTITUTION:In an air circulating portion of a compressor housing 5 of a turbocharger, a flame coating film 6 about 0.5mm thick in which Al-12% Si alloy and polyester are mixed is formed at a part thereof that confronts the forward end of a rotating impeller in such a manner that the porosity is increased from the interface with the compressor housing 5 towards the surface of the film 6. Coarse texture having a large porosity has good machinability, so that it can be easily cut by the impeller. Thus, the damage of the impeller can be prevented.
