Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a water absorbing polymer composition having molding and processing properties, excellent retention of water absorbing polymer after water absorption and high water absorbing properties, comprising a water absorbing polymer and a silanol group-containing polyolefin. CONSTITUTION:A water absorbing polymer composition containing (A) 5-95wt.%, prefeably 20-80wt.% water absorbing polymer [e.g. alkali metallic salt of starch-(meth)acrylic acid graft copolymer or starch-(meth)acrylic acid ester graft copolymer hydrolyzate], (B) 95-5wt.%, preferably 80-20wt.% polyolefin polymer or rubber (e.g. ethylene-vinyltrimethoxysilane copolymer) having preferably 0.1-5wt.% alkoxysilane group-containing monomer unit content wherein an akoxysilane group-containing monomer is copolymerized in the main chain or graft copolymerized in the side chain and, if necessary, a petroleum polymer, wax and a stabilizer.
