Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically print page data at a predetermined position on a cut paper and reduce the burden on the operator, by causing a page number printing controlling means to judge a page data printing position based on the operation of a paper-detecting means for detecting the passage of the trailing end of a cut paper through a predetermined position. CONSTITUTION:A page number printing switch 11 is turned ON, and an MPU 1 is informed of data for selection of a page number printing mode. The arrival of the lowermost position B of a printable region A of a cut paper P at a printing position of a printing head 8 by the feeding of the paper P accompanying a printing operation is confirmed by the detection of the absence of the paper P by a paper detector 12. A page number printing circuit 13 determines a position E optimum as a page data printing position on the basis of the left end C and the right end D of the printable region A, feeds the paper by a one-line amount, reads page data from a page counter, and prints the page data. The page counter is incremented by one, thereby providing the next page data. Thus, page number printing can be performed by the printer in its own operation.
