In order to prevent important documents such as securities from being forged using a color copying machine, a warning mark such as "VOID" that is difficult to see with the naked eye is printed on the surface of the paper so that the warning mark does not appear when the paper is run through the copying machine. There have already been proposals that allow the image to be visually distinguished from the background.

In this type of prior art, the background is made up of fine halftone dots, the warning mark is made up of halftone dots twice the size of the background, and the background is made of halftone dots that are twice the size of the background, and the background is made of halftone dots that are twice the size of the background. Documents with decorative camouflage are known.

However, even before the above-mentioned prior art, documents with warning marks consisting of halftone dots of different sizes from the background had been considered, but in such cases, the warning marks could be easily read with the naked eye if one looked at them with some care. There were some drawbacks.

Therefore, although the provision of camouflage is effective in making the warning mark difficult to identify, the document also has various disadvantages and has not been put to widespread use.

First of all, the document uses a hybrid mask of warning marks, surrounding background, and camouflage. By using a hybrid mask, the plate structure before printing is of course a mesh plate, and as shown in Figure 1, the ink layer B applied on the top surface of paper A after printing is a single-color printing layer. It is self-evident that the resulting prints will be bland and have a uniform color with only large and small halftone dots arranged thereon.

Secondly, printed matter obtained by such a plate structure is disadvantageous in that the warning mark after copying cannot be clearly recognized. In other words, in a combination of halftone dots of the same shape, if the size difference between the dots is extreme, the warning mark will be visible to the naked eye even if a camouflage is provided, so the warning mark must be a multiple of the screen used as the background. Therefore, there are problems with reproducibility after copying, and some of the camouflage remains along with the warning mark, making it unsightly.

Thirdly, since camouflage is printed on a uniform plane with a warning mark, it is not possible to create a free design, and it is impossible to achieve a decorative effect, making it almost impossible to add a sense of beauty to printed matter. This has the disadvantage that it is impractical as it spoils the appearance of the document.

The present invention will be explained below with reference to the drawings. As shown in Figs. 2 to 4, a latent image 2 indicating "COPY" is printed on a part of the surface of the paper 1 with 150 lines and 10% halftone dots. At the same time, a background 3 of the same density as the latent image 2 is simultaneously printed on the white area around the latent image using lines of 50 lines and 10% of each other. A decorative pattern 4 such as a colored pattern is overprinted with transparent ink of such a light color that it cannot be reproduced by copying.

In this way, the fine constituent elements of latent image 2 are halftone dots of about 150 lines and 10%, while the fine constituent elements of background 3 around the latent image are about 50 lines and 10% of lines, and both are composed of The feature is that the child shapes are different. Therefore, if you carefully observe the latent image 2 before overprinting the decorative pattern 4, you can faintly identify the latent image 2, but after overprinting the decorative pattern 4, both are obscured and cannot be identified with the naked eye. In other words, it appears that only pattern 4 exists on the paper surface. This pattern 4 is of such a light color that it cannot be reproduced by copying, so when it is copied, the pattern 4 cannot be seen, whereas the background 3 printed with parallel lines is reproduced, and the latent image 2 is As a result of not being reproduced, the density difference between the background 3 and the latent image 2 becomes obvious, and the letters "COPY" are clearly recognized, making it obvious at a glance that it is a copy.
(Figure 6) Figure 5 shows another embodiment in which the latent image 2 is printed with 50 lines and 10% dots, and the background 3 is printed with 150 lines and 10% dots. By doing this, when the latent image 2 is applied to a copying machine, the latent image 2 is reproduced, but the background 3 is not reproduced, so that a difference in density occurs between the two, and the latent image 2 can be clearly identified.

In other words, as is clear from the above two embodiments, the present invention has a structure in which the background or latent image printed with parallel lines is reproduced by copying, and the latent image or background printed with halftone dots is not reproduced. It is characterized by this.

That is, the present invention prints a latent image 2 made of fine constituent elements on the surface of the paper 1, and simultaneously prints a background 3 made of fine constituent elements having a different shape from the constituent elements on a white background area around the latent image. However, by overprinting the decorative pattern 4 on the upper surface of the latent image 2 with a thin transparent ink that cannot be reproduced by copying, the cross-sectional shape as shown in FIG. A one-color printing ink layer 3 is formed, and an ink layer 4 forming a decorative pattern is superposed on the upper surface thereof.
Therefore, the plate configuration before printing is such that the latent image and the decorative pattern are separate plates, which is a big difference from the prior art described above. As a result of such separate editions, the design and color tone of the decorative pattern 4 can be freely selected, and if a pattern is formed according to the printed material, it can be applied to a wide range of documents, making it extremely useful in practice.

And the decorative pattern 4 arbitrarily selected in this way
As a result, the latent image and the background are sufficiently obscured, making it completely difficult to distinguish them with the naked eye, and the light-colored decorative pattern 4 cannot be reproduced when put on a copying machine, so it cannot be copied. Later, the latent image 2 with a noticeable difference in density from the background clearly appears and can be identified.

In other words, the fine constructs that form the latent image 2 and the background 3 are unique in that they are not a combination of points of the same shape as in the prior art, but are completely different shapes, and there is a remarkable structural difference between the fine constructs. Due to the difference, the difference in brightness between the two after copying becomes obvious at a glance.

As mentioned above, by making the constructor into a different shape, paper 1 is not restricted by the size of the dots as in the prior art.
The decorative pattern 4 makes it possible to perform various types of surface printing, and as a result, the decorative pattern 4 finishes the surface of printed matter beautifully and neatly, and as a result, it has great practical benefits that can be applied to a wide variety of documents.
