Abstract

PURPOSE:To inform the latest parking state of a parking lot to drivers by displaying the numbers of sections available for parking via sensor signals and at the same time inhibiting designation of those sections as vacant ones within a prescribed time after the display of said displayed sections. CONSTITUTION:Sensors S1-Sn set at parking sections P1-Pn detect the presence or absence of cars parking at these sections and send the detection signals to signal processing means 5. The means 5 monitors the parking state of each parking section based on the signals received from sensors S1-Sn and sends the monitoring output to a display device 3 via a gate 6 and a display device controller 7. When a car arrives at an entrance 1 of a parking lot and is detected by a photodetector CS2 opposite to a light source CS1 with intervention of the entrance 1, the gate 6 is opened and the number of parking enable sections are displayed on the device 3. A timer 8 controls the means 5 so that a section once displayed is not displayed before a prescribed time elapses even though the section is idle after display. Thus the same parking section is never instructed to the following cars.
