Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a good honeycomb structure for carrying a catalyst by executing a pitting corrosion treatment in an electrolytic tank with a thin steel sheet in smaller than specified thickness as an anode, making a honeycomb structure by laminating the obtd. sheet and a corrugated sheet formed from a sheet and coating a catalyst carrier layer. CONSTITUTION:A pitting hole becoming of the anchor of a catalyst carrier material coating is formed on the thin steel sheet in <=200mum thickness. At the pitting stage, the specified electrolytic treatment is executed by DC with sodium chloride in the specified concentration in an electrolytic tank 8 and with a thin steel sheet in an aq. soln. of hydrochloric acid as the anode. The corrugated sheet is made from the sheet of this pitting steel sheet and a honeycomb structure 1 is made by superposing the corrugated sheet and sheet alternately. At the coating stage, a wash coating is executed to dip this honeycomb structure, then baking is executed. The catalyst carrying structure thus obtd. impregnates or dips the catalytic material corresponding to the use and a catalytic converter is obtd.
