Abstract

PURPOSE:To lessen the actual weight of a grinding means, simplify the shift of the grinding means via a grinding amount adjustment means and enable the grinding of a weld bead with high precision by providing a supporting and energizing means for supporting the grinding means via the predetermined energizing force. CONSTITUTION:A grinding workpiece is carried on a transfer means 2 in the length- wise direction thereof and continuously fed to a pressing means 4. This workpiece W is pressed and energized toward the transfer means 2 via the operation of the pressing means 4, and clamped with the predetermined pressure between the pressing means 4 and the transfer means 2. Then, the workpiece W is advanced to a grinding means 5 having weight lessened with a support and energizing means 6 and the weld bead W1 of the workpiece W is ground with said grinding means 5. The height of a weld bead left after grinding is detected with a sensor and a detected value is fed back to a grinding amount adjustment means 8. And a relative distance between the pressing means 4 and the grinding means 5 is changed and the grinding capacity of the grinding means 5 is adjusted respectively on the basis of the detected value, thereby grinding and removing the weld bead W1 continuously by the predetermined amount.
