Abstract
PURPOSE:To inexpensively increase the output of the N2 useful for purging a reaction vessel, etc., by introducing air from an air intake of the title N2 generator housing porous hollow yarns coated with a specified membranous material, and discharging N2-enriched air from the outlet. CONSTITUTION:The outer surface of each porous hollow yarn 16 of PE, etc., having 100-200mu inner diameter and 200-400mu outer diameter and having pores with 0.1-0.5mu diameter is coated with a non-porous membranous material 17 of a fluorine-contg. acrylate (e.g., alphaF6FO-based compd.) having 2.5-4 separation factor (alpha) between O2 and N2 and having 0.1-2mu thickness to obtain the finished hollow yarn 16. The hollow yarn 16 is set in the casing 11 of the membrane module unit 1 of the N2 generator, and air is supplied from the air intake 12 through a fan 3. The amt. of air is controlled by a pump 4 and a control valve 5, N2-enriched air is separated by hollow yarns 16 and the membranous material 17, and the O2-enriched air is discharged from a first discharge port 13 and the N2-enriched air from a second discharge port 14.
