Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease energy loss and to execute homogeneous sintering in a short period of time by interposing a sintering material between electrodes which are attachably and detachably disposed to face each other and heating and sintering this material by electric resistance while pressurizing the material. CONSTITUTION:The heat resistant electrodes 2, 3 consisting of beryllium copper, etc., and having good electrical conductivity are movably fitted to both ends of a heat resistant insulating cylinder 1 consisting of ceramics, etc., and are disposed to face each other. These electrodes are connected via conductors 5 to a power supply 4. The sintering material is packed and interposed between the electrodes 2 and 3 and a sensor 6 for temp. measurement is attached through a small hole provided in the insulating cylinder 1. While the sintering material is pressurized by the electrodes 2, 3 in this constitution, the electrodes 2, 3 are energized from the power source 4 to heat the sintering material by Joule heat, by which the sintering material is heated up and is thus sintered. A dense and homogeneous sintered body is thereby efficiently produced.
