Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently sort a microorganism, capable of decomposing ligin and suitable for saccharifying wood, producing paper pulp, etc., with a high accuracy, by cultivating a microorganism in a culture medium containing wood meal and Remazol Brilliant Blue R and examining the presence or absence of decolorization. CONSTITUTION:(A) Preferably 0.1-0.5% wood meal having preferably a particle size passing through a 20 mesh screen prepared by drying and finely cutting wood, such as Japanese beech or Japanese oak, (B) preferably 0.001-1.0% Remazol Brilliant Blue R and (C) preferably 1-2% agar are used to prepare a culture medium. (D) Wood-decaying fungi are then inoculated thereinto and cultivated to judge and sort the aimed strain by the presence or absence of decolorization of the component (B).
