Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a scanning member to be brought into contact with and separated from an objective body by a simple construction, by providing the scanning member with a cam follower guided by a cam under a driving force of the scanning member. CONSTITUTION:When a base 10 is moved in the direction of an arrow C and a thermal head 9 is scanningly moved for printing in contact with a thermal recording paper 6 set on a platen 11, a cam follower 13 provided on the base 10 is guided by one elongate surface 17a of a cam 17. After the scanning for printing, an end edge 16 of an oscillatable member 14 is fastened to a stationary leaf spring 18a, whereby the cam follower 13 is guided by the other elongate surface 17b of the cam 17 against an elastic force of a spring 15. Simultaneously, the cam follower 13 is turned in a vertical plane of the base 10 integral with the cam follower 13, whereby the head 9 is separated from the paper 6 set on the platen 11. In this condition, the base 10 is moved along the other elongate surface 17b of the cam 17 in the direction of an arrow D, and the head 9 is returned in a scanning manner.
