Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an unnecessary full charge by switching the charging action to a trickle charge even when the maximum value of battery voltage decreases below the existing maximum value. CONSTITUTION:Voltage of a battery 3 to be charged is measured in a battery voltage measuring part 6 and compared in a maximum value detecting circuit 8 with the maximum value in the past stored in a memory circuit 7, and the new maximum value is stored into the memory circuit 7. A- V detector circuit 9 detects the battery voltage to be decreased by- V below the maximum voltage stored in the memory circuit 7, and qiues a command for a charging power supply stopping signal source 12 to switch to a trickle charge. On the other hand, a maximum value discriminating circuit 10 discriminates a maximum value to be compared with the maximum value in the past, stored in the memory circuit 7, in a maximum value comparator circuit 11, and the switching command to the trickle charge is given to the charging power supply stopping signal source 12 when the maximum value is lower than the past maximum value by the specified or more.
