CONSTITUTION:An intermediate wave output signal of a frequency converter 3 is amplified by a low noise amplifier 9, given to a variable attenuator 2A of an intermediate frequency band, an output signal of the variable attenuator 2A is amplified by an intermediate frequency amplifier 10 and given to an AGC amplifier 6 via a band pass filter 11. The output signal of the variable attenuator 2A is given to a level detector 4 and a control circuit 5 controls the attenuation of the variable attenuator 2A bused on the level detected by the detector 4. Thus, an inexpensive variable attenuator operated at the intermediate frequency band is employed and since the level is controlled after low noise amplification, the effect of the insertion loss of the variable attenuator onto the noise coefficient is reduced and the level is controlled at the pre-stage of the intermediate frequency, then the dynamic range is widened.
