Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled agent to be blended with a system of prescription of drug and cosmetic fields, having excellent cell activating ability and immune activating ability, catching and removing oxygen radicals, using baicalein. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen radical catching and removing agent comprising baicalein of flavonoid system contained in Scutellaria baicalensis or an extract containing the same. In extraction of baicalein, for example, powder of Scutellaria baicalensis is blended with purified water, previously immersed in the purified water at 50 deg.C for 3hr, an alcohol such as ethanol is added to the water, immersion extraction or extraction under heating is carried out to give filtrate, which is treated with nylon and filtered. 1pt.wt. filtrate is mixed with 2pts.wt. purified water to precipitate yellow essence powder, which is dried to give an extract of Scutellaria baicalensis. The agent can prevent and treat various cancers and suppress side effects by blending with other anti-cancer drugs and is effective for preventing stain, freckle and wrinkles in the form of application of outer use of cosmetic, prevents removal of hair and promotes hair growth and restoration.
