Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce abnormal potentials and prevent dielectric breakdown by forming a spiral groove on the surface of and in the direction of a high voltage conductor and installing a resistor in the groove. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage conductor 1 is fix-supported with a spacer 3 in a sealed metallic container 2. The inside of the container 2 is filled with SF6 gas. In the middle of the high voltage conductor 1 is provided a contact point section 5 of a switch such as a breaker to be fix-supported with the spacer 3. A spiral groove 11 is formed on the axial directional surface of the high voltage conductor 1 and a resistor 12 such as a non-linear resistor is installed in the groove. Current flows through the portion of the high voltage conductor below the spiral groove 11. On the other hand, while an overvoltage containing much of high frequency components is produced at the time of opening or closing the switch such as the breaker, the passage thereof is obstructed by the equivalent coil constituted with the spiral groove 11. The voltage induced in the spiral groove 11 increases with the increase in the frequency of the current. When the induced voltage exceeds the actuation voltage of the resistor 12, the resistor 12 works to absorb surge energy.
