Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the water balance for a cooling tower without using a flow meter and with a simple constitution by measuring the wet bulb temperature of the outside air of a cooling tower and the inlet temperature and outlet temperature of the cooling water and calculating the amount of evaporation and amount of cooling water circulation. CONSTITUTION:Temperatures are measured by respective thermometers T1-T3 and the amount of evaporation is calculated from those measured temperatures in a calculation controller 7. In the calculation controller 7 a curve of the performance of a cooling tower is stored on which the cooling capacity (log U/N) of the cooling tower which is a function of the ratio N of the water and air of the cooling tower which is a function of the ratio N of the water and air of the cooling tower is taken along the axis of ordinates and along the axis of abscissas the logarithm of the ratio of the amount of cooling water circulation L and amount of gas G (logL/G).
