Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a nozzle for synthetic fiber spinning excellent in the adhesive strength of the coating of corrosion- and wear-resisting material and having high strength, by precipitating TiC to the surface of a Ti-containing and nozzle-worked stainless steel sheet by means of heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A Ti-containing stainless steel stock is work-hardened. Plural nozzle holes are provided to the resulting stainless steel sheet. This stainless steel sheet is subjected to heat treatment at about 700-900 deg.C in a high vacuum, preferably, of <=about 10<-3>Torr for about 1-24hr. By the above procedure, the surface precipitation of TiC is applied at least to the inside peripheral surfaces of the above nozzle holes. Subsequently, at least the inside peripheral surfaces of the nozzle holes are coated with corrosion- and wear-resisting material, such as TiC and TiN, by various methods, such as CVD and PVD. This coating may be performed prior to or simultaneously with the above heat treatment. By this method, the nozzle for synthetic fiber spinning having superior adhesive strength of coating film and high strength and excellent in quality can be obtained.
