Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent electric shock, by providing a member fusible upon supply of predetermined current to release mechanical contact between an input terminal and a switch chip and interrupting power supply to an electric appliance. CONSTITUTION:When the body 38 of an electrical hair dryer is dropped into water during usage, current leaks through an active portion of the body 38 and flows through the water to an electrode 40. Current flows from the electrode 40 through an extended cord 36b and charges a capacitor 34. When the capacitor 34 is fully charged, charging current is applied from the capacitor 34 onto a gate, i.e. a triac 32. Consequently, the triac 32 is turned on and current flows to a fusible member, i.e. a fuse 26, so as to blow off the fuse 26. Consequently, switch chips 16a, 16b are separated from input terminals 12a, 12b to interrupt power supply to the body 38.
