Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease waveform distortions without providing a center tap to a magneto-resistance effect element (MR element) by using a nonlinear circuit having the nonlinearity of the reverse characteristic acting complementarily on the nonlinearity possessed by the resistivity/external magnetic field of the MR element which is not provided with the center tap. CONSTITUTION:The nonlinear circuit 7 having the nonlinearity of the reverse characteristic acting complementarily on the nonlinearity possessed by the characteristic curve of the MR element which is not provided with the center tap is provided. The intensity of the magnetic field acts on the MR element 1 connected to a current source circuit 3 and the distortion waveform which contains the DC component and is vertically asymmetrical in amplitude in correspondence to the nonlinearity of the rho-H curve possessed by the MR element 1 is blocked of the DC component by a capacitor 5 and is amplified to a required level by a preamplifier 6. The waveform is then passed in the nonlinear circuit 7 having the nonlinearity of the reverse characteristic which acts complementarily. The vertical asymmetry of the amplitude is thereby reverse corrected and is made approximately into symmetry. The reduction of the vertical asymmetry of the amplitude in the MR head of a two terminal type having no center tap within the circuit is thereby enabled and the signal quality at the time of signal reproduction is improved.
