Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to transfer a coloring matter image with favorable image quality, by using a base having such a surface characteristic as to have a maximum undulation of at least 4mum at not more than 10 of arbitrary 10 measuring points. CONSTITUTION:A base for a transfer recording sheet has such a surface characteristic that when a filtered maximum waviness is measured with a reference length of 2.5mm for a filtered waviness derived from a sectional curve measured for smoothness according to JIS-B0610 under the condition of a cutoff value of 0.8mm, the surface has a maximum waviness of at least 4mum at not more than 10 of arbitrary 100 measuring points. The base having such a characteristic may be, for example, a coated paper. The recording side or both sides of the paper may be laminated with polyethylene, whereby smoothness and water resistance are enhanced. When a white pigment such as titanium oxide and zinc oxide is incorporated in the paper on the recording side, brightness is enhanced.
