Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compsn. having superior plasticity and superior adhesive property at low temp. and useful as a fireproof adhesive by blending a base composed of inorg. aggregate and ceramic fibers with colloidal silica and/or colloidal alumina as an inorg. binder and a specified org. bond. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. contg. PVA and methylcellulose is obtd. as an org. bond by dissolving 1pt.wt. (on dry basis) PVA in water to 1-10wt.% concn. and adding 0.1-10pts.wt. (on dry basis) methylcellulose to the resulting aq. soln. A base is composed of inorg. aggregate consisting essentially of alumina, mullite and chamotte and ceramic fibers such as silica-alumina fibers and 100pts. wt. of the base are blended with 5-50pts.wt. colloidal silica and/or colloidal alumina as an inorg. binder and 2-20pts.wt. of the org. bond.
