Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having excellent function, such as antimicrobial properties, and improved durability thereof, etc., by treating an undrawn polyester fiber having specific physical properties with a treating agent consisting of an antimicrobial agent, etc., and heating the resultant fiber. CONSTITUTION:An undrawn polyester fiber, having <=30% crystallinity and >=0.02 birefrigence rate and consisting essentially of polyethylene terephthalate is initially treated with a treating agent selected from antimicrobial agents, antifungal agents, insecticides and repellents and then heated at a temperature within the range without impairing the fiber performances, preferably at 60-110 deg.C during and/or after the above-mentioned treatment to afford the aimed fiber. Furthermore, the afore-mentioned treating agent is preferably used in an amount of 0.2-30mg based on 1g undrawn polyester fiber.
