Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable continuous casting having good dimensional accuracy and good yield without any casting defect by projecting one end holding a core into molten metal and drawing the other end by a mold contacting with cooling structure at the specific drawing speed. CONSTITUTION:The graphite mold 2 having hole at the bottom part side wall of a melting furnace 1 and the cylindrical core 5 is fixed with a fitting body 6 at the molten metal 4 side. And, the copper tube is inserted in the mold 2 and the end thereof is positioned so as to bring into contact with the core 5. Water is passed through in a cooling structure 7 set at reverse side with the molten metal 4 side so that the solidified position is set at molten metal 4 supplying side of the mold 2. N2 gas is introduced from a gas supplying tube 8 to inner face of the mold 2, and injected while covering surface of casting rod 9 and distributions of temp. and metallic composition are eliminated by stirring the molten metal 4. The solidified rod under this condition is drawn at drawing speed 10-150mm/min and after that, the pulse drawing is executed by pinch rolls 11. The copper pipe obtd. in such way is uni-directional solidified pipe and the surface thereof is made smooth.
