Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a filter medium having high chemical resistance by impregnating fluororesin into a laminate of fibers of glass or the like, hardening the fluororesin and removing the fibers by dissolution in hydrofluoric acid. CONSTITUTION:A filter medium 1 is produced as follows: fibers of glass or the like are laminated to form a sheetlike laminate having a proper thickness and thermoplastic fluororesin having superior chemical resistance is impregnated into the laminate and hardened. All the fibers are then dissolved and removed by feeding a chemical soln. such as hydrofluoric acid so that only the fluororesin is left. The fiber removing stage is preferably carried out after the filter medium 1 is pleated or the assembling of a filter element is completed. Thus, the production of the filter medium can be very simply performed.
