Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable simple laying by letting off an optical fiber at nearly the same linear speed as the moving speed of a flexible moving body moving over the entire laying length at one end of said moving body. CONSTITUTION:The front end of the cable 2 is first guided through a flexible pipe 5 to the feed end of a belt conveyor 1 by manual operation, etc. The front end of the optical fiber cable 2 is then placed on the conveyor 1 and a cable letting-off part 3 is rotated in such a manner as to feed in the cable 2 at a speed (v). The cable 2 is successively placed on the conveyor 1 and is carried at the speed (v) in such a manner. The cable letting-off part 3 having the function capable of making automatic control in such a manner that the cable can be let off at the same speed as the speed of the conveyor 1 is preferably provided in order to execute the smooth laying without slackening the cable. The tension and side pressure to be exerted to the cable 2 are thereby extremely diminished and, therefore, the most basic and simplest cable construction is realized.
