Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the sense of coasting effectively by raising the line pressure temporarily when large engine brake is required even in case speed change shock is to be reduced by delaying the line pressure supply to a coasting clutch. CONSTITUTION:When a forward clutch 10 and a coasting clutch 12 are engaged at the time of automatic speed change which does not require engine brake in a specified position selected by a select lever, supply of the line pressure to the clutch 12 is delayed by a throttle etc., and speed change shock is reduced without operating a control means 65. To apply engine brake, a changeover sensing means 64 senses that the range position is selected to the low speed side, and a sensing means 61 senses that an accelerator pedal is disengaged, and then the control means 65 is operated to raise the line pressure with a line pressure adjusting means 53 at this time only, and the coasting clutch 12 is engaged without response delay. Thus prevention of speed change shock and work of engine brake will become compatible.
