Abstract
PURPOSE:To efficiently recover CO2 by arranging zeolite on the upper stage, activated alumina or silica gel on the lower stage and activated carbon on the middle stage, if necessary, respectively in the inside of an adsorption tower of a pressure swing adsorption equipment thereby performing vacuum-desorption in two stages. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust gas of ironworks which contains 15-40% CO2 is introduced into an adsorption tower 1A via a compressor 2 and CO2 is adsorbed with zeolite on the upper stage and moisture and sulfur content are adsorbed with activated carbon on the middle stage and with activated alumina or silica gel on the lower stage. Then the adsorption tower 1A is decompressed to the atmospheric pressure and impure gaseous components in the dead space are discharged and thereafter it is decompressed to 700-100Torr with a decompressor 3 to discharge impure gas contg. N2, CO, H2 and S as impurities and then decompressed to 100-30Torr to desorb CO2 and this is recovered as a gaseous product. Thereafter the gas passed through the adsorption tower is introduced countercurrently to desorb the moisture and S and then the inside of the tower is raised in pressure. This process is successively repeated in adsorption towers 1A-1C.
