Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the average thermal expansion coefficient in the operating temperature range of a color cathode-ray tube and reduce its thermal deformation by forming a shadow mask main body having many electron beam permeating holes regularly with a thin plate made of nickel alloy containing 37-40wt.% of nickel and the remainder of iron. CONSTITUTION:Many electron beam permeating holes 1a are regularly formed by etching on a shadow mask main body 1 formed into a protruded face shape. The shadow mask main body 1 is constituted of a thin plate made of nickel alloy containing 37-40wt.% of nickel and the remainder of iron. The average thermal expansion coefficient in the operating temperature range of 80 deg.C-250 deg.C of the shadow mask is made smaller than that of an amber alloy, thereby the thermal deformation due to the thermal expansion of the shadow mask main body can be reduced.
