Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve a higher heat exchange efficiency in an evaporator by providing orifices respectively at a plurality of holes to equalize the distribution of a refrigerant gas and a liquid. CONSTITUTION: This shunt 8 is constituted of an inlet hole 14 and a plurality of outlet holes 15 branched off the inlet hole 14. An expansion valve communication line 7 communicating with an expansion valve 6 is connected to the inlet hole 14. An orifice 18 is provided at each of the outlet holes 15 while pipelines 9a-9d communicating with an inlet of an evaporator 10 are connected thereto. The diameter (d) and the length 1 of the orifices 18 are determined so that when a pressure difference is represented by P between a saturation pressure of the refrigerant at which the refrigerant liquid expanded under a reduced pressure by the expansion valve begins to be vaporized and the saturation pressure of the refrigerant at the inlet of the evaporator, the total resistance of all the orifices 18 is almost larger than the pressure difference P. This enables equalization of the proportion of the gas and the liquid in the shunt of the refrigerant to the plurality of pipelines 9a-9d thereby achieving a uniform heat exchange with the pipelines.
